Quality Education at Maccabee Academy
What is Maccabee?
Maccabee, in Jewish history, is synonymous with the concept of a "miracle.”
In 168 BC, during the period of the Seleucid Empire, the ruler of Palestine declared Judaism illegal in an effort to promote the Hellenization of the region. As part of this process, cruel measures were adopted to eliminate Judaism from the area. In response, the brave Maccabee family led the Jewish people to retake Jerusalem and reclaim the Temple. Despite numerous disadvantages, they were victorious. That was where the Maccabee miracle started.
Later, when the Maccabees were collecting oil to light their celebrations of the successful revolt, they could find only enough to sustain the Menorah for one day. But the oil somehow lasted for eight days. In this way, the Maccabee miracle continued. This event is the origin of Hanukkah, an most important tradition for the Jewish people and a commemoration of the miraculous victory.
With the same can-do spirit and belief in unimaginable possibility that brought the Maccabees success, our students are empowered in what they can achieve and find success in their academic endeavors. We believe that all children are capable of extraordinary achievement, as long as they have access to the right teacher, the proper encouragement and a belief in self-actualization.
At Maccabee, anything is possible.
