Maccabee Balloon Debates

This camp is intended for students with no prior experience. Students will engage in a week-long, 2 hour daily course where they research, write, deliver and defend an argumentative speech.

This course is available online and in-person.

What You'll Learn:

Students will learn how to write a speech based on a creative debate scenario and asks the question, Which current or historical figure would be the best person to form a new human civilization? Instructors will work with students in an informative and interactive atmosphere.

Daily Schedule.

Warm Up/Attendance (15 minutes)

Students participate in warm up activities and speaking exercises

Review/Preview Daily Lesson Plan (10 minutes)

Teachers will review previous lessons and preview upcoming lesson objectives

Direct Instruction & Lecture (35 minutes)

Teacher provides direct instruction to students

10 minute break

Guided Practice (45 minutes)

Students apply lesson material

*On the days where students are competing, all instructional time is spent on conducting debates and those days will not include direct instruction from the teacher.
