Online Intermediate Debate

This course prepares experienced competitive debaters for their 2nd year of debate competition. This course is for students who already understand the fundamentals of Public Forum or Lincoln Douglas debate.

What You'll Learn:

The course will focus debate instruction on the September/October resolution with the returning beginner students’ needs in mind. Our experienced instructors will guide students to become more knowledgeable and confident in their debate abilities.

Daily Schedule.

Warm Up/Attendance (10 minutes)
  • Students participate in warm up activities and speaking exercises
Review/Preview Daily Lesson Plan (5 minutes)
  • Teachers will review previous lessons and preview upcoming lesson objectives
Direct Instruction & Lecture (45 minutes)
  • Teacher provides direct instruction to students.
10 minute break
Guided Practice (45 minutes)
  • Students apply lesson material through practice debates, drills and short written assignments.
Feedback & Review (30 minutes)
  • Teacher evaluates and provides written or verbal feedback to debaters on their performance.
10 minute break
Redos & Reteach (20 minutes)
  • Students complete redo speeches, make corrections, teacher clarifies and reviews concepts, assigns homework, written or recorded performance.
