Maccabee Pro Debate

This camp will focus on developing topic specific skills and knowledge for experienced debaters. The focus is on the September/October resolution for the upcoming school year.  The curriculum is designed for debaters that complete the Intermediate Camp or who have previous competitive experience. This camp is topic intensive and will develop students’ argumentation and strategy for the September/October debate resolution.

This course is available online and in-person.

What You'll Learn:

The course will have a major focus on preparing arguments and rebuttals for the upcoming debate resolution with a supplemental focus on skill development and independent practice strategies.

Daily Schedule.

Warm Up/Attendance (10 minutes)
  • Students participate in warm up activities and speaking exercises
Review/Preview Daily Lesson Plan (5 minutes)
  • Teachers will review previous lessons and preview upcoming lesson objectives
Direct Instruction & Lecture (45 minutes)
  • Teacher provides direct instruction to students.
10 minute break
Guided Practice (45 minutes)
  • Students apply lesson material through practice debates, drills and short written assignments.
Feedback & Review (30 minutes)
  • Teacher evaluates and provides written or verbal feedback to debaters on their performance.
10 minute break
Redos & Reteach (20 minutes)
  • Students complete redo speeches, make corrections, teacher clarifies and reviews concepts, assigns homework, written or recorded performance.
